Week of 2.11 
This week ,we are wrapping up our study of The Great Depression in social studies with an activity about Dorothea Lange and New Deal Art on Monday, and our test on Friday 
Study guides will be distributed on Wednesday of this week. 

In Language Arts, we are reviewing parts of speech and their uses, as well as wrapping up our study of The Giver. 
We will be writing our in-class essays this week. 

At the end of the week, we are hoping to begin our next novel, Bud, Not Buddy.

Social Studies: We are working on a study of the Great Depression

Language Arts: We continue our study of The Giver and begin to work on writing to a given prompt in the area of literary analysis

Week of 1.28 
We will have our test on World War I on Thursday, 1/31 to close out the marking period. 
Additionally, our Harlem Renaissance biography projects, which we are working on in class, will be due and presented on Friday, 2/1. 

We are continuing our study of the novel, The Giver, by Lois Lowry.

Due to my absence on Tuesday, all makeup tests will be taken Wednesday and Thursday of this week. 

Vocabulary chapter 9 will still be tested on Friday. Please continue to access the words at sadlierconnect.com

We are learning about the 1920s and economic booms in social studies, and continue our study of The Giver in reading.

Please watch for daily homework and review nightly. The test is currently scheduled for Friday. 

Good luck next Wednesday on the Spelling Bee
Remember that while it is not required this year, all sixth graders are STRONGLY recommended to participate. 
Extra credit will be given to those who make an attempt.

11/26-30 
TED talks will be presented on Friday, November 30 in class. Please dress as nicely as you are able to, as we are presenting these to other members of the student body as well as our peers from Atlantic Highlands Elementary Schools. 

We are continuing to study and read Tuck Everlasting, and to work on persuasive writing, as well as reviewing punctuation rules. 
We are using Reader's Response to annotate our novel using Cornell notes as we prepare for group discussion. 
Here is a resource that reviews Cornell Notes similarly to how we use them in class.

11/19/18- Thanksgiving Week 
We are continuing to work on our Ted Talks in class. 

Topics were approved on 11/19, rough drafts will be worked on during class time and be due on 11/26 
Currently, we are presenting on 11/30 

We are working on reader response and golden lines/ two column notes in ELA. 
Tuck Everlasting- chapter 5 and 6 this week

Stay tuned for updated HW/reading schedule for the weekend and remainder of the month.
