My Philosophy

a

I embrace teaching as an opportunity to inspire a love for learning. My desire and willingness to give all I can is driven by the outcome and impact I have on children and parents. I believe teachers are a part of a team of parents and administrators working together in discovering the most effective ways of stimulating and sustaining intellectual growth and life long learners.

We all learn best in different ways and at our own pace. This is why it is important to understand the diversity of learning styles and student experiences in order to enhance student growth and engagement. The process by which I work to stimulate these are unique to each individual.  That is why we will not always be working on the same thing in the same way. Students are encouraged to learn by doing and by interacting with one another. Sometimes we will be working as a whole group, in small groups or with a partner. Sometimes we will be working individually or with a teacher, inside or outside the classroom.

I make sure that every activity I plan sparks their natural curiosity and inspires them to learn about themselves, about interacting with others, and about the world around them. Every lesson is focused around each child's unique educational, emotional, and physical needs.
My personal teaching style is a reflection of my beliefs about teaching.

My classroom is a very special place, for it is also a place characterized by safety, security, belonging, and love. The environment in my classroom, school routines, modes of teaching, and children's ways of learning are all guided by a spirit of family-like affection.  I thrive on being receptive, kind, loving and patient towards others. Students enter my classroom knowing they are appreciated. I look for what is unique and valuable in each child and I continuously remind them of that. Discovering and meeting every students' individual needs and learning styles is imperative in producing successful students.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
