Sixth Grade Celebrates Promotion to Middle School with Trip to Washington DC

The sixth grade students of Highlands Elementary School were treated to a special two day trip last week as they made their way to Washington DC for a weekend of fun, education, and adventure.   The trip, which was in celebration of their promotion to middle school, featured visits to:

  • The Smithsonian Museum of Natural and American History
  • A nighttime tour of the national monuments.
  • The International Spy Museum.
  • The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

This endeavor was another example of Highlands Elementary School’s effort to incorporate fun into the learning experience for their students.  The class enjoyed acting as “spies” in the museum and a wonderful time was had by all.  The trip was funded through donations and money raised by a class “tricky tray.”  Special thanks to Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. Susan Compton, Mrs. David and Mr. Perkins for their hard work in orchestrating the fundraisers, and the donors for making this special event possible.
